Kendra Oakes obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada-Reno. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Kansas, where she graduated order of the coif and with a certificate in advocacy. She has spent her career defending public and private employers and insurers in all phases and aspects of workers’ compensation claims in multiple jurisdictions. Ms. Oakes provides assistance as necessary from the first report of an accident through litigation to the appellate courts. Ms. Oakes also focuses on Medicare Secondary Payer Act Compliance, advising on Section 111 mandatory insurer reporting, Medicare conditional payment disputes, and Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Asides. She works to bring the best results for her clients using her understanding of the larger picture of workers’ compensation claims and innovative thinking to resolving claims. She is passionate about using her years of experience in defending workers’ compensation claims with attention to the unique details of each matter. Ms. Oakes serves as an Ambassador for the Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation and supports several chapters of Kids’ Chance. She regularly speaks at seminars and conferences on various workers’ compensation topics and interplay with other laws. Ms. Oakes enjoys writing, painting, singing, and exploring new areas of creativity. She served on the Board for Base Academy of Music, a non-profit providing affordable and accessible private music lessons to kids in the urban core of Kansas City for several years before moving to Las Vegas.
