The “Grand Bargain,” sometimes referred to as the “Great Compromise,” is the foundational principle that is at the core of workers’ compensation. It is a critical underlying component for the industry today, but is little understood by many both inside and outside the industry. This introductory course will provide a brief review of the history of workers’ compensation, how the Grand bargain came to be, and how it today drives the forces within our industry.
